Adelaide’s craft beer scene is about to welcome a new player as the highly anticipated Yellow Matter Brewery prepares to open its doors on June 24th.
Nestled just off Marion Road, this vibrant microbrewery is set to become the go-to hangout spot and event space for beer enthusiasts and social butterflies alike. With its unique concept and inclusive vision, Yellow Matter aims to challenge the norms of the male-dominated industry and create a welcoming space for all.
The brainchild of the female-led hospitality group Sonic Yoni, Yellow Matter has been meticulously designed by the renowned architectural firm Studio Gram, known for their innovative and award-winning designs.
Housed in the old council depot buildings, the 580-square-meter brewery boasts a seamless blend of modern aesthetics and mid-century influences. Through warm color palettes and carefully selected furnishings, the brewery creates an inviting atmosphere that feels like a gathering at a close friend’s place.
Janie, of Sonic Yoni, shared the inspiration behind the transition from running a cafe to opening a brewery. She explained, “We wanted a challenge and to learn about the production side of the industry. It has been really fun, exhausting, and rewarding. We are excited to welcome the public to our little space and share a brew together.”
Yellow Matter takes pride in offering an extensive range of beverages beyond just beer.
“We wanted to offer options for people who maybe aren’t into beer but still want to visit a brewery. We have a small but progressive wine list, a broad and interesting range of non-alcoholic options, and a delicious cocktail list, all perfectly paired with our hand-stretched pizzas.” she said.
Apart from the enticing beverage selection, Yellow Matter promises a delectable food menu. The brewery will serve a variety of hand-stretched pizzas that range from classic flavors to inventive creations. Janie added, “We’re also really, very excited to offer delicious vegan and gluten-free options. We have tried to consider all people’s needs but maintain high quality, delicious eats for all.”
Operating from 10 am to 6 pm, Yellow Matter will serve as a perfect spot to relax in the cozy indoor seating or bask in the warmth of the outdoor area. While the brewery plans to start canning in 2024, visitors can enjoy their favorite beverages while engaging in a friendly game of pool throughout 2023.
Yellow Matter Brewery aspires to be more than just a place to enjoy great drinks and food. It aims to foster a sense of community and inclusivity, breaking the stereotypes of the brewing sector.
Janie concluded, “We want this space to feel like a warm hug to everyone.”
