Ice cream and winter don’t usually go together but if the sweet treat is offered for free, you won’t hear us saying no. Giving us a few more reasons to hit the gym, a one-day-only pop-up cafe coming to Chippendale this Thursday, and it’s dropping everything from bingsu to ice teas on the house. What’s the catch? There’s none. It’s just Netflix’s way of celebrating the release of their latest YA rom-com, XO Kitty. And they’re one-upping themselves with a selection of free desserts, dreamy cherry blossoms and all the good vibes.
XO, Kitty Pop-Up Cafe, Chippendale
Among the sea of Netflix releases, there’s one genre that’s particularly trendy right now — Korean dramas. And Sydneysiders are happily caught up in the pop-culture blitzkrieg along with the rest of the world.
XO Kitty is a 10-episode spin-off of Netflix’s popular film franchise To All the Boys. Anna Cathcart reprises her role as Kitty Covey, the youngest of the Covey sisters, as she embarks on a quest to find true love.
If you’ve been proudly riding the K-wave, we suggest heading down to the XO, Kitty Pop-Up Cafe on Thursday, May 18. There’ll be a number of sweet and savoury treats up for grabs including a variety of bingsu, a classic Korean, made with shaved ice and topped with chopped fruit, red beans and sweet syrup. There’s also iced teas and Korean rice cakes in a variety of flavours. The cafe starts serving up its desserts at 11am while stocks last so you’ll want to get in fast.
In the meantime, keep an eye on Netflix Australia’s official Instagram page for more surprises.
