Wydad midfielder Mohamed Ounajem
Ahly will host the Moroccan side at Cairo Stadium on Sunday, with the second leg scheduled for Casablanca one week later.
“The final will be very tough against a team who have a big name in the continent,” Ounajem told Moroccan newspaper Mountakhab on Tuesday.
“But we will head to Cairo with the aim to earn a positive result before the second place which will take place in Casablanca.”
“Wydad fans are wonderful and always support the team to perform well, and we will be eager to make them happy and win the continental title.”
Ounajem previously won the Champions League title in 2017 with Wydad when they defeated Ahly 2-1 on aggregate in the final.
Despite returning to Wydad last year, the former Zamalek player didn’t make part of the team that won the 2022 Champions League title, also at the expense of Ahly, as he wasn’t eligible to play with the team on the continental level.
Ahly have reached their fourth consecutive Champions League final after a straightforward 4-0 win on aggregate over Esperance de Tunis.
Meanwhile, Wydad secured a stunning ticket to the final after beating South African side Sundowns on the away goal rule following a 2-2 draw in Pretoria.
