Submissions for the Little Kids Day Out picture book writing competition close next Friday, 23 June, so make sure you get your entry in.
Spokeswoman for LKDO, Kim Walters said the committee have been impressed with the entries to date.
“We have been excited to see the submission thus far and encourage all, no matter what age, to submit their story about bugs and creepy crawlies, while remembering to have a safety aspect,” she said.
“The picture book can be hand written and illustrated or created digitally.
“We have chosen Tarni Florence and Joolie Gibbs’ book The River that Flows as the theme for the Little Kids Day Out event and book comp.
“The story perfectly fits the picture book comp and event theme.
“The story follows an ant caught up in the Gympie floods and the creepy crawlies he meets along the way,” Ms Walters said.
All the details and required coversheet for competition entries can be found on the website at littlekidsdayout.org.au.
Books can be uploaded via a Dropbox link or submitted with required coversheet to any Gympie region library, marked with “ATTENTION CURTIS DRAY” clearly written on the envelope.
“This is a great opportunity to share your love for storytelling and engage with the community during the Little Kids Day Out,” Ms Walters said.
