Two Gladstone women got into a nasty street fight where one of them got punched in the head numerous times, and also copped ‘multiple’ blows when she was on the ground in the foetal position.
Dakota Ieshia Atkinson, 21, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on May 30 to common assault.
Police prosecutor Jennifer Leach said between midnight and 1am on June 3 last year, Atkinson and the female victim were involved in a heated argument on Gladstone’s Goondoon Street.
Ms Leach said initially the argument was verbal but then the victim approached Atkinson.
Ms Leach said when the victim got close, Atkinson punched her in the head “multiple times”.
The prosecutor said a local chaplain and a security guard from MiePlace Niteclub then restrained Atkinson.
“(Atkinson) has also punched the victim numerous times while she was in the foetal position on the ground after the chaplain and security guard had intervened,” Ms Leach said.
The court heard the incident was captured on dashcam footage.
It was told that Atkinson had a one-page criminal history with no similar offending on it.
Solicitor Pierre Lammersdorf said Atkinson was currently on Jobseeker Allowance and she intended to move to New South Wales where she had ambitions to get into childcare work.
Mr Lammersdorf said Atkinson had not offended since this incident a year ago.
Acting Magistrate Mary Buchanan took into account that Atkinson had already received an $820 ticket for public nuisance from the same incident.
Ms Buchanan fined Atkinson $500 and she did not record a conviction.
