A Tamworth woman has been charged with animal cruelty after Portsmouth police said she left a dog inside a hot car.Police said the animal was in the vehicle with the windows up for several hours. They said the outside temperature was in the mid-70s, but the temperature inside the car rose to 125 degrees.Police were called to the car on Durgin Lane, but the dog had died, officials said.Susan Weilbrenner was arrested and charged with leaving an animal in a motor vehicle and cruelty to animals. She was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court on July 17.
