The good record of Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien has been touched on already – he’s won the Royal Ascot showcase race a massive 8 times and is the winning most trainer in the history of the race.

His first win came in 2006 with Yeats, who quickly mopped up four on the bounce. Fame And Glory (2011), Leading Light (2014), Order Of St George (2016) and last year Kyprios (2022) have been his other successes in the race.

The popular Italian horse pilot has won the race 8 times before and with this being his last season in the saddle he’ll be looking to go out on a high. Dettori’s first Gold Cup winner came on Drum Taps in 1992, with his most recent Stradivarius in 2020.
