Baizhu was one of the characters who were seen in Genshin Impact from the very start. He had a Dendro vision, which made it quite obvious that players would have to wait a long time to put him in their party since the element wasn’t in the game yet. He was finally released during the Version 3.6 update.
He’s a five-star healer wielding a Claymore as his weapon. If you decided to pull for this beautifully-designed character during the limited character banner in the second phase of the version, here’s everything you’ll need to build him up.
Baizhu’s Ascension Materials
When a new character is released in Genshin Impact, the items required to ascend them are usually from their region. Baizhu is one of the few characters that get special treatment in this regard as you’ll have to venture through both Liyue and Sumeru if you want to upgrade him to the maximum level (level 90).
Here are all the materials you should be looking for:

You can get the Gold talent books from the Taishan Mansion domain every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. This is a Pyro domain where you’ll fight two Pyro Axe Mitachurls and two Fatui Agents. Ideally, you’d want to have a shielder or healer in your party since the domain’s special ability gives you a lot of damage.
When it comes to the Weekly Boss Drop, you’ll have to fight the Warden of the Last Oasis in the Sumeru Desert. You can fight the boss once a week and get two drops at random. If you don’t get the required drop, you can convert the other items from the same boss using a Dream Solvent.
Warden of the Last Oasis has three phases. During the first and the third phase, you simply have to brute force the boss until it reaches zero health. During the second phase, you have to constantly defeat smaller enemies to charge up a bar on the top. There’s also a one-shot attack in the third phase where you’ll have to get into the Dendro shield formed by the boss to protect yourself.
You’ll also need one Crown of Insight to upgrade each talent to level ten, bringing the total to three.
You can get Crown of Insights through exploration and limited-time events.
Where to Find Nagadus Emerald Crystals
If you’ve been playing Genshin Impact for a while, you’ll know that crystals are an integral part of every character’s ascension. There are multiple sources to farm them, but you’ll only get a few from each source, which makes it the hardest material to farm. The most credible source for crystals are the World and Weekly bosses in the game.
You can defeat these bosses and claim their rewards to get the Dendro crystals: Dendro Hypostasis, Jadeplume Terrorshroom, and the weekly boss called Warden of the Last Oasis. Claiming rewards from World Bosses take 40 Original Resin while the Weekly Boss can take 30 or 60. You can fight the World Bosses an unlimited number of times.
At the maximum World Level, you’ll get around two Nagadus Emerald Fragments on average from each fight.
Another method to get these crystals are the bigger limited-time events in each update. These events have a special shop where you can get around six Fragments total. Finally, you can also convert other crystal types into Nagadus Emerald by spending some Dust of Azoth at the Alchemy Table.
Where To Get Violetgrass
All regions in Genshin Impact combined, Violetgrass can be one of the hardest and most frustrating regional specialties to farm. The item is spread all across Liyue and you can find it growing on the side of random cliffs. Essentially, you’d have to climb every mountain if you want to farm them, but there are a few things that can help.
Yanfei and Qiqi are four-star and five-star characters respectively who have a passive that can detect nearby regional specialties in Liyue while they’re in the party. Use these characters to know a Violetgrass’ location when it’s nearby and make sure you mark it for easier access during subsequent runs.
You can also use the Seed Dispensary gadget if you’ve finished the first Serenitea Pot quest.
This will allow you to make seeds whenever you harvest a Violetgrass in the open world, which you can plant in your teapot.
Baizhu Mob Drop Location
As mentioned above, Baizhu will take you all over Liyue and Sumeru for his materials, and his mob drops will take you to the latter. Fungi are special enemies that can be found everywhere in the Sumeru Rainforest and Desert. They have small and large variations, and you’ll get much more rewards from the larger ones.
It’s important to note that these enemies can enter an Activated or Scorched state if Electro or Pyro is applied to them respectively. The drops you get are different if they’re defeated in one of these states, and they’re quite useless. Make sure you use Dendro, Hydro, Cryo, Anemo, or Geo characters while fighting them.
There’s a high chance of not getting any drop from smaller Fungi even at the highest World Level.
The enemies are scattered everywhere, so you’ll have to defeat a bunch of them to get enough materials.
Where To Get Evergloom Ring
Evergloom Rings are unique World Boss Drops that can only be acquired from the Iniquitous Baptist. He can be found in the Gavireh Lajavard area of the Sumeru Desert and looks like an upgraded version of Abyss Heralds and Lectors. If you’re going to farm this boss continuously, it’s recommended to place a Portable Waypoint nearby.
Each time you fight this boss, it can have three of these four elements: Cryo, Hydro, Electro, and Pyro. You can see the elements it has before triggering the battle. It’s required to have party members with elements that can counter all of them since the boss will continuously stall by cycling through shields made of those elements.
If you successfully break an elemental shield, it’ll enter a vulnerable state for a few seconds where you can pour all your damage.
