Virginia is the most patriotic state in the new WalletHub study, but how about Kentucky? According to the report, blue states are more patriotic than red states. Do you agree or disagree with this assessment? Let’s weigh in!
With the Fourth of July around the corner, WalletHub just released its report on the Most Patriotic States in America. While I feel Owensboro is pretty patriotic, it seems the Commonwealth isn’t as a whole. Some ways to show patriotism are by flying the American flag, getting out to vote, supporting area veterans and active military personnel, studying history, or checking in on your neighbors. Patriotism can mean something different based on where you come from, or how you were raised. I consider myself very patriotic. I grew up in a military family and learned the national anthem at a young age. In school, we recited “America, my country ’tis of thee” before class started. I was taught to respect our great nation and to love everyone. Were you raised in a patriotic family?
MOST PATRIOTIC STATES BASED ON NEW WALLETHUB STUDY
Personal finance site Wallethub.com published a new study that ranked all states patriotism, and Kentucky didn’t fare too well. According to the report, the three most patriotic states were Virginia, Montana, Alaska, and Arkansas was the least patriotic state for the second year. While Kentucky came in 21st for “Military Engagement”, the state ranked 44th in “Civic Engagement”. Based on this, and other factors, Kentucky ranked a dismal 35th on the most patriotic list. As a state, we have work to do!
STATE-BY-STATE FINDINGS
STUDY METHODOLOGY
“To determine where Americans have the most red, white, and blue pride, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 13 key indicators of patriotism. Our data set ranges from the state’s military enlistees and veterans to the share of adults who voted in the 2020 presidential election to AmeriCorps volunteers per capita. Below are some additional highlights from the report.”
The study also revealed blue states are more patriotic, with an average ranking of 25.20, compared with 25.80 for red states. What are your thoughts? Do you agree with the findings?
