MOTHER Nature played her part last Wednesday, when just 11 women competed in the stableford event at the Mount Gambier Golf Club.
The field was depleted due to the thundery and wet weather, which caused the playing of the prestigious Veterans Day to be postponed.
Di Norman used her handicap of 20 well to claim the win, after splits of 14/21 for 35 points.
She registered four three-pointers on the difficult back nine.
Runner-up honours went to Rab Headlam, playing off 19.
She was just one point away, with splits of 13/21 for 34 points.
Headlam’s back nine included four three-pointers to help her claim second place place on a count-back.
Rounding out the podium was the ever-consistent Faye Mainwaring (14) with splits of 15/19 for 34 points.
Her round included a birdie on the 16th hole.
The pro shot on the eighth hole went to Penne Saffin.
The best second shot into the par 3 16th hole went to A Grade’s Faye Mainwaring and B Grade’s Vicki Clarke.
The June Monthly Medal, International Bowl, third round of the Handicap Championship, Putting and the first round of the Winter Salver will be contested on Wednesday.
