Both in the top eight and having solid starts to the season, the Bulldogs and Crows are only separated by one win and have surprised many.
Adelaide did win this matchup last year in Ballarat in extremely tough, windy conditions and are a much improved team through the recruitment of Izak Rankine and the All-Australian level play of Jordan Dawson.
The Bulldogs still have a very young side, but have jumped on the back of Marcus Bontempelli’s Brownlow-form, winning their last four games.
Although Adelaide are looking great in attack the wet and windy conditions in Ballarat will even this out as last year these teams only combined for an insanely low 125 total points.
The Bulldogs use their tackling pressure to keep games close and have gone over the total points in only three of their nine games. That’s the least of any team in the league.

JJ IS BACK
Since winning a Norm Smith in the 2016 Grand Final with his dash and elite foot skills off halfback, Jason Johannisen has played in all types of positions and even been dropped.
Finally Bevo has realised that he needs to be used in that attacking backfield role and since he has moved back there, JJ is averaging 24 disposals in his last five games.
This has AFL Fantasy players rejoicing as Johannisen’s scores have rocketed in recent weeks, averaging 89 points since moving to halfback and has three scores over 95.

YOUNG CONSISTENT CROW
Luke Pedlar may not be a household name just yet but he is quickly becoming an Adelaide cult hero with his long locks and his ability to kick goals from all angles.
Pedlar was rotated from wing and half forward in the past few seasons but has now found the perfect forward pocket role, crumbing the bigs and has kicked two or more goals in each of the last three matches.
WHO WINS?
The Bulldogs may be struggling in attack but they have the fourth best defence in the league that can also rebound off halfback quickly
Dogs Tom Liberatore and Marcus Bontempelli also love playing in the wet, both averaging over 14 contested possessions per game, so won’t mind a congested game
The Bulldogs have beaten the Crows in three of the last four meetings and although this will be close, they will continue their win streak in Ballarat here.
THE PICK: Western Bulldogs 1-39, $2.15 (via Ladbrokes)
