West Sussex Stagecoach bus prices and tickets are set to undergo some changes over the next few months with the aim to “help encourage people to try the bus for the first time”. A range of changes are set to be implemented, including a new day ticket in popular Sussex areas like Bognor Regis and Chichester.
Although some ticket prices may be increased slightly to help cover higher bus running costs, other tickets will be cheaper to help customers save money, including the popular DayRider Gold ticket, which will be reduced by £1.10 to just £8 per ticket. The bus operator will also introduce new tickets for young people with Child Flexi5 Day bundles and 4-week MegaRider tickets available across West Sussex.
As of next week (June 18), the changes will be implemented, with the main one being that DayRider tickets will stay “at similar or reduced prices”. Flexi5 tickets will also offer the “best value to customers” who make occasional trips, allowing them to save 20% on the cost of each DayRider ticket.

Stagecoach has also said that single and return ticket prices will remain “unchanged” for the foreseeable future. A new Flexi5 and 4-week MegaRider tickets will also be made available for children under 16, with StudentRider tickets also becoming available for school children and Student ID holders for each Term or a full academic year.
GroupRider tickets are also being made available for each travel zone, with any four people travelling together able to benefit from the price of two. While these changes are being implemented, Stagecoach has also announced the tickets that are rising in price, including the Nightrider tickets, which offer unlimited bus travel after 7pm, which will rise by 20p to £3.
The MegaRider week and period tickets will also see a price increase. James O’Neill, Commercial Director for Stagecoach South, said: “We’ve carefully reviewed our ticket offer this year, with so many new customers travelling under the Government’s £2 Single campaign. Our new ticket range will help support this promotion whilst offering a clearer choice for people travelling occasionally, frequently or together as a Group.
“We know people are thinking carefully about the cost and environmental impact of car driving. Bus travel remains fantastic value for money and it’s great to see so many residents coming out to support their local bus service.”
At the moment, single bus tickets are just £2 as a result of the Government scheme to encourage bus travel. This is set to rise to £2.50 from November 1 until November 30.
