The dates and venues for the upcoming Group games in the Senior Hurling and new Premier Intermediate Hurling Championships were announced last week and it was confirmed that due to the ongoing work in Walsh Park the St. Mollerans club grounds in Carrickbeg and the SETU Arena in Carriganore will host senior games fixed in the Eastern division.
The Senior Hurling group games will commence on w/e 29th/30th July and will be completed by Sunday 13th August after which date the knockout championship, involving all twelve senior teams, will begin week in week out up to the final stages.
The fixtures are as follows.
Group A
Rd. 1 Saturday 29th July – Fraher Field 2 pm. Ballygunner V Abbeyside. Rd. 2 Sunday 6th August – SETU Arena 3.30 pm. Ballygunner V Passage. Rd. 3 Sunday 13th August Fraher Field 2 pm. Abbeyside V Passage.
Group B
Rd. 1 Friday 28th July – Carrickbeg 7.30 pm. Mount Sion V Fourmilewater. Rd. 2 Saturday 5th August – Fraher Field 7.30 pm. Mount Sion V Tallow. Rd. 3 Sunday 13th August – Fraher Field 3.30 pm. Fourmilewater V Tallow.
Group C
Rd. 1 Saturday 29th July – Fraher Field 7.15 pm. Roanmore V Lismore. Rd. 2 Saturday 5th August – Carrickbeg 7 pm. Roanmore V Clonea. Rd. 3 Saturday 12th August – Fraher Field 7.30 pm. Lismore V Clonea.
Group D
Rd. 1 Friday 27th July – Fraher Field 7.30 pm. De La Salle V Dungarvan. Rd. 2 Sunday 6th August – SETU Arena 2 pm. De La Salle V Dunhill. Rd. 3 Sunday 13TH August – Carrickbeg 2 pm. Dungarvan V Dunhill.
Of the twelve Group games seven will be played in Fraher Field, three in Carrickbeg and two in Carraiganore.
Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship
The new Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship will get underway with the games being played on the same weekends as the Group games in the Senior Hurling.
The championship consists of the four semi-finalists from each division in last year’s championship with two teams from each division in two groups of four.
GROUP A – Ferrybank, Ballygunner, Clashmore, Ballysaggart.
GROUP B – Tramore, Ballyduff Lower, Cappoquin, Shamrocks.
In Group A the first round clash will see Balygunner and Ferrybank in opposition on Saturday 29th July in Kill at 7 pm. while Clashmore and Ballysaggart will meet at a Western venue to be decided.
Kill will host a first round double header as the Group B clash between Tramore and Ballyduff Lower will precede the Ferrybank game with a 5 pm start.
The second and third round games will take place on August 4th and 12th respectively with three of the games being played in Lemybrien.
