A TEN-YEAR partnership between Central Highlands Water and SUEZ has been announced to bring digital water meters to the region.
More than 75,000 water meters are set to be upgraded over the next three years so customers will be able to see their water usage in real time.
“We are focused on continuing our digital transformation journey to support the best outcomes for our customers and community,” said Central Highlands Water managing director Jeff Haydon.
Consultation with customers indicated support for the move and the ability for users to view their data online.
The new meters will allow CHW to take an automated reading and detect leaks, meaning staff will no longer need to access customers properties to see how much water has been used.
It will also remove the need for a manual special meter read when residents move house.
“The upgraded digital water meters will empower customers with the ability to monitor their water usage digitally,” said Mr Haydon.
“This can assist with leak detection and to identify areas where water can be saved, resulting in a lower water bill.”
CHW will provide updates to customers as the rollout occurs and installation should begin late 2023.
