Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the re-signing of Liberty A-League midfielder Amy Chessari until the end of the 2024/25 season.
Chessari featured in 10 matches in her first season of the A-Leagues after a breakout season in the local competition with FNSW Institute.
A Western Sydney local, Chessari is set to feature in her second season of the competition with the Wanderers.
“It was a really good experience with the girls and I had a good group around me of experienced players,” said Chessari.
“Last season was a great opportunity for me. I was given the opportunity and the Centre of Football is right around the corner from me. I’m a local girl, I grew up at the Football NSW Institute so I’m just happy to be involved.
“My debut was one of the highlights of the season. I didn’t know if I was going to get on as it was the first time I was on the bench. My first 90 minutes against Canberra was a highlight too.
“This season, I’m looking to get more minutes and to be more consistent.
“I just want to thank my family, my Dad was driving me five days a week and getting up at 5 O’clock to get me here in the morning. Not even just last year, my whole life. My whole families support and all my friends. My teachers at school have been really helpful too and they were really pushing and supporting my dreams.”
Head coach Kat Smith said she was looking forward to be part of Chessari’s continued growth at the club.
“Amy’s strengths exist in her spatial awareness and game understanding. Matched by her exceptional technical ability and vision, are an excellent fit in our playing style,” said Smith.
“She is mature beyond her years. Amy’s approach to football not only drives her continued growth but brings out the best in those around her.
“Amy has really grown in the midfield role at the club. She has continued to develop in all aspects but most importantly confidence and can see her contributing to our goal scoring opportunities, if not, scoring herself.”
