A wanted Geelong man found evading police this week is alleged to have threatened to kick an officer in the head and to kill his partner with a piece of broken glass, a court has heard.
Police found Tyson Godwin, 26, hiding under a Corio house on Wednesday after a warrant was issued for his arrest in relation to a string of serious charges relating to theft, assault and contravening a court order.
The alleged offences date back to 2021.
The Geelong Magistrates Court heard on Friday that about 9pm on January 20, the accused allegedly threatened to punch and strangle his partner while she was driving with her child in the car.
After pulling the car to the side of the road, the accused is alleged to have obtained a shard of broken glass, saying “I’ll f—ing kill you.”
The police prosecution told the court Godwin then threw the piece of glass at the victim.
The court also heard Godwin threatened to kick a police officer in the head on February 4, after he was arrested for being drunk in a public place following a birthday party at Bell Park.
On August 25, 2021 the accused is alleged to have punched an ambulance officer in the chest after they attended a residence to assist him with a head injury.
His aggression was such that paramedics activated a duress button alerting the police, who arrived to find the accused behaving aggressively.
It is alleged he then told an officer “I’m about to kick off” and “do you c—- want to have a go?”
He then allegedly lunged at the police and said “oi, let’s go.”
He then resisted efforts to restrain him.
The court also heard on November 21, last year he is alleged to have taken two life-size Gremlin dolls valued at over $700 from a Popcultcha store.
The alleged theft was captured on CCTV.
He again entered the Popcultcha store on December 5 and took a Gremlins action figure valued at $60.
Godwin’s defence lawyer, Tim Hancock, said his client would plead guilty to the charges.
Magistrate John Bentley remanded him to appear in the Geelong Magistrates Court on Monday, May 29.
