UPDATE: Friday, May 12, 2023, @ 7:45 PM | BLUEFIELD, WV (WVNS)– The victim of the shooting in mercer county is identified.
According to Detective Kenneth Adams with the Bluefield Police Department, 18-year-old Javon Lowe died as a result of his injuries following a shooting on Pen Mar Ave. in Bluefield, WV.
Detective Adams said Lowe was in an ongoing argument with another man. Lowe drove to the house of the 19-year-old man whom he had been arguing with and began shooting, striking him in the knee.
A 43-year-old on the porch was also struck, according to Adams. The 43-year-old tried to get away from the gunfire where they also sustained a head and spine injury.
The 19-year-old returned gunfire and struck Lowe twice.
Adams said Lowe drove away and crashed into a nearby garage after losing consciousness. Lowe was taken to Princeton Community Hospital Bluefield Campus where he was pronounced dead.
The 19-year-old was taken to Princeton Community Hospital Bluefield Campus, the 43-year-old was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, both with non-life-threatening injuries.
There are no immediate charges at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

BLUEFIELD, WV (WVNS) — An afternoon shooting in the Bluefield area of Mercer County reportedly left three people injured.
According to Chief Dennis Dillow with the Bluefield Police Department, the shooting happened near Pen Mar Avenue and View Avenue around 2 PM on Friday, May 12, 2023.
One car wrecked into a nearby building due to the shooting. Three people were transported to a local hospital to be treated for injuries sustained. The extent of the injuries remains unknown.
