Police are desperately searching for a new mum after an anonymous call she made to triple-0 in South Australia.
The unknown woman called the emergency hotline in a “distressed state” and told the operator she had recently given birth. Unfortunately, she ended the call before any of her details were obtained.
The call came in at about 12:35am on Friday from a public phone box on the corner of Shelley St and North East Road at Tea Tree Gully, according to police.
“Police have grave concerns for her welfare, given the information she has provided in this call and believe she is in need of urgent medical assistance,” a SA Police spokesperson said.
Investigators have come up empty-handed after “extensive inquiries” about the woman’s identity.
Officers have also searched the area around the phone box but have “not been able to locate any physical evidence”.
“Investigators are asking for the woman to contact Triple Zero (000) again so we can check that she and her baby are safe.”
Police are seeking information from anyone who can identify the woman or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage recorded in the vicinity of the phone box.
They are urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
