From the Florida Highway Patrol
Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Orange County Sunday afternoon, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries to an Apopka police officer.
According to the FHP, the crash occurred at approximately 3:30 P.M. on US-441 (Orange Blossom Trail) at the intersection of State Road 414 (Maitland Boulevard) in Orange County.
A 2013 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling westbound on the off-ramp of State Road 414 (Maitland Boulevard) approaching US 441 (Orange Blossom Trail). At the same time, a marked Apopka Police Department patrol vehicle was traveling southbound on US 441, approaching State Road 414 in the inside lane.
The Camaro driver ran the steady red light and collided with the left front side of the APD cruiser. The Camaro driver a 39-year-old man from Orlando, was not injured and remained on-scene.
The APD officer was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-trauma, non-life-threatening injuries.
This crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of either driver involved in the collision.
