Sportswear brand Under Armour is bringing back its global sporting competition UA Combine to Sydney, following a successful launch last year.
UA Combine will take place at Carriageworks on November 4, with 350 Australian athletes expected to compete. The event was held previously at Sydney Olympic Park.
Under Armour has expanded the entry age this year, with those aged between 16-18 now eligible to compete.
“What underpins the success of Under Armour is our steadfast focus on making athletes better,” Under Armour ANZ managing director Fernando Reani said.
“We work hard to ensure Under Armour remains a performance brand that continuously challenges success metrics and benchmarks in human conditioning.
“This is why the annual UA Combine fixture is of such importance; it allows us to provide a forum where our community can come together and push their limits together, alongside their fellow athletes.”
The competition will see participants compete in eight physical and mental tests designed by Under Armour, including agility, stamina, vertical, power, endurance, strength, speed, and cognition.
Points will be earned for each completed test and athletes will be ranked according to their final result, with medals and cash prizes of AUD$5,000, $2,500 and $1,000 awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed athletes in both the men’s and women’s divisions, respectively.
Those between 16-18 years of age can win a one-year Under Armour product sponsorship worth AUD$1,500 for the top male and female youths.
The inaugural UA Combine last year saw 1,200 participants across four countries in the Asia-Pacific.
“The Under Armour and local training community is of critical importance and the experience of being in the crowd at the inaugural UA Combine competition last year has left a lasting impression,” Reani said.
