Knights forward Tyson Frizell faces a nervous wait after he was put on report for a tackle Mick Ennis “hates” and wants to see it out of the game.
Frizell was the third man in tackling Tino Fa’asuamaleaui and hit the Titans skipper just below the knees and despite the minimal force he was penalised.
Fa’asuamaleaui went off following the incident as the Gold Coast used the free interchange teams receive when an opposition player is put on report.
“We’ve been looking at the damage a hip-drop tackle can do, well that (tackle) is exactly the same,” Ennis said on Fox League.
“I know there’s not a lot of force in that but I just hate those tackles where there’s two players holding on up top and someone spears in at the legs, I reckon we get rid of it.”
Corey Parker went the other way and while conceding it was “an awkward one” tackle, he suggested the incident was overblown.
“Tyson Frizell does make contact below the knees which is deemed to be illegal. Was there any real force involved? I don’t think so, I think it wasn’t too bad,” Frizell said.
“Tino left the field with his ability to leave the field with a free interchange. I expect to see Tino come back.
“I don’t think based on what we saw last night with Junior Paulo that Frizell will have anything to worry about.”
Fa’asuamaleaui returned in the second half and Braith Anasta said any potential sanction from the match review committee will likely depend if is injured long term.
“You can’t hit under the knee and he’s come in on the knee of Tino and Tino has gone straight off,” he said.
“It depends I suppose on the severity of the injury and whether he’s got a case to answer.”
Parramatta captain Junior Paulo was the third man in on a tackle on Joseph Tapine which injured the Raiders star on Saturday night.
Tapine went off injured and Junior Paulo was not binned but he was charged by the match review committee and copped a $1800 fine with an early guilty plea.
