Two men have died after a light aircraft crash landed on a Midlands airfield. The crash took place at Otherton Airfield in Penkridge, Staffordshire, on Sunday afternoon, June 4.
Paramedics said nothing could be done to save the man, aged 63 and 56, and they were confirmed dead at the scene. The aircraft was on fire and also suffered significant damage, with Staffordshire Police appealing for witnesses of the fatal incident.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called to the scene at 1.58pm. It sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Staffordshire to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, crews discovered a light aircraft that had suffered significant damage and two male patients. Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save either man, and they were both confirmed dead at the scene.”
Staffordshire Police said it was called there just after 2pm, attending alongside paramedics and firefighters from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
A spokesperson said: “Fire crews extinguished a light aircraft which was on fire at the scene. Sadly, a 63-year-old man and a 56-year-old man both died at the scene. Specially-trained officers are supporting both of their families at this difficult time.”
Detective Inspector Peter Goodwin, of CID South at Staffordshire Police, said: “We are continuing to work in parallel with the Air Accidents Investigation Branch to establish the circumstances leading up to the crash. We are keen to hear from witnesses or anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the area at the time.”
