Turnpike Troubadours – The most famous red dirt music band
Turnpike Troubadours is an Oklahoma-born band that has dominated the red dirt music scene, especially in Texas, for the better part of the last ten years, packing dance halls and arenas across the state. The most famous red dirt music band today, featuring lead vocalist Evan Felker, bassist RC Edwards, fiddler Kyle Nix, guitarist Ryan Engleman, drummer Gabe Pearson and steel player Hank Early, performs more than 100 shows annually.
Ballads about small-town love, challenge, loss and grief are brought to life by the band’s distinctive sound and Felker’s impeccable songwriting ability. These songs go beyond just writing harmonies to create compelling narratives with recurring, relatable characters. The band’s most famous character, Lorrie, appears in a number of their hits, including “Good Lord Lorrie”, “The Mercury” and most recently “The Housefire” from their latest record, A Long Way from Your Heart. The Turnpike Troubadours’ hits share a common emotional relatability that keeps fans coming back for more year after year.
After a few years away, the band is making a big comeback with five studio albums under their belt, well over a million daily listeners on Spotify and two top-five songs. Fans of RODEOHOUSTON® will be treated to The Turnpike Troubadours’ second show on March 11.
