“That’s what the assistant coaches [are], it’s that big brother, the one that they can have banter with and share stuff with, but they respect and look for advice from. And there’s no difference with those two, that’s exactly what they are. They’ve walked in and given that straight away.”
Robinson was also bemused by the criticism of his skipper, James Tedesco. Some pundits have called for Tedesco to be dropped after the NSW fullback and skipper overplayed his hand in the opening game of the series.
“I’ve heard about it,” Robinson said. “And he’s a legendary player. So whatever criticisms are out there, and if people want to look for scapegoats, if that’s in their interests, then they can do that. But he’s our state’s captain, he’s delivered on many, many occasions and he’ll continue to do so.
Robinson, who revealed Jared Waerea-Hargereaves will be fit for Sunday’s clash with Canterbury in Gosford, believed Tedesco would return to top form in coming weeks.
“Yeah, of course he can. It’s Teddy,” Robinson said.
“I know how hard he works. I know what his belief is. We also saw that, the effort. To question somebody, based on effort the other night, he worked harder than anybody on that field. So the touch will come.”
