Everton ‘contacted’ by Tottenham Hotspur for shot-stopper Jordan Pickford
Tottenham Hotspur have ‘contacted’ Everton regarding a move for shot-stopper Jordan Pickford in the upcoming transfer window, according to Football Transfers (h/t Liverpool Echo).
Spurs are looking for a new number one ahead of next summer. To that end, the North London side are looking into a deal for the England international. But the Toffees are expecting a bid ‘in the region of £40 million‘ for their first-choice goalkeeper.
However, the 29-year-old has certain demands before considering a switch to the Lilywhites. He wants to know who our new manager will be and whether Harry Kane is going to stay at the club.
Pickford made a name for himself at Sunderland before Everton came calling for his services. The shot-stopper has been a key player for the Goodison Park side over the years.
In the last two seasons, the Toffees have been in relegation battles. The English national has made some clutch saves over the last few months to ensure that the Merseyside outfit remains in the Premier League.
The 29-year-old does lose concentration here and there and makes a few errors. But overall, he is one of the best goalkeepers in England as things stand and has been trusted by Gareth Southgate as well for the Three Lions.
Hugo Lloris has expressed his desire to leave Tottenham this summer. The veteran goalkeeper has been our number one for over a decade now. However, it looks like the French national’s stint at the North London side is coming to an end.
Apart from the 36-year-old, we have Fraser Forster in our ranks as the number two. However, the former Southampton star is not getting any younger either.

Therefore, getting a new shot-stopper should evidently be a priority for us in the coming weeks. But whether Pickford will be the one to make his way to Spurs remains to be seen.
