Tottenham have been backed to spend “big” on goalkeeper David Raya.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Spurs and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton insisted the club need to “sort out” the keeper situation and “quickly”.
On 27 May, this site revealed that the Lilywhites are lining up a triple-your-money offer for Raya worth nearly £100,000-per-week.
Brentford are expecting the 27-year-old to quit this summer with his current contract running until 2024.
Current number one Hugo Lloris has made clear his “desire” to leave Spurs in the coming weeks, stating that it is “the end of an era” for him.
The former France international has a year left on his deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but could force a move this summer.
When asked if Spurs would be willing to offer Raya incredibly high wages, Hutton told Football Insider: “In the past Daniel Levy has never done that, there has always been a structure.
“Even when I was there there was a wage structure. I know they have kind of moved the goalposts for the likes of Harry Kane but you expect that to keep your top players.
“It probably is not as big as what people are making out. I am sure it is a really good deal but I think they will be getting a good goalkeeper.
“That is also something that they need to sort out soon. Lloris has been a great servant to the club but it is his time to move on. [Fraser] Forster I am not sure is the one. So they need to sort something out quickly.“
