TOP teams Mount Pleasant and White Hills meet in Saturday’s fifth round of the Bendigo Bank Heathcote DFNL senior footy season.
White Hills has home-ground advantage at Winslow Constructors Oval in Scott Street as second takes on first.
A highlight of this contest will be watching gun small forwards Ben Weightman for Mount Pleasant, and Kaiden Antonowicz for White Hills as both are in hot form.
Weightman lifted his season tally to 24 goals after he kicked 10 in last Saturday’s big win by the Blues at Elmore.
A season return of 16 goals by Antonowicz included nine in a best afield performance when the Demons beat Heathcote in round three at White Hills.
Defences for the Demons and Blues will rely a lot on limiting opportunities for the dynamic duo.
The Adam Baird-coached Mounts are on three-game winning streak, as is the Jack Fallon and Jake Pallpratt-coached White Hills.
Another big match will be at Colbinabbin’s M.J. Morgan Reserve where the Grasshoppers tackle North Bendigo.
Although it has a one and three record, Colbinabbin cannot be taken lightly, especially after a seven-point loss on Lockington’s turf.
In-form players for the Jed Brain-coached Colinbabbin include Logan and Lain Fitzgerald, Connor Aldous and young ruckman Jasper McArdle.
The unbeaten North Bendigo must bring its A-game for every quarter.
The marking power of Bulldogs’ forwards Dylan Klemm, Jordan Ford, Cody Riddick and Matt Gray will test Colbo.
Heathcote is back at Barrack Reserve and should take the points against Elmore.
A lot of interest will be on Saints’ gun forward Corey Grindlay who kicked eight in the night match at White Hills in round three.
Leitchville Gunbower is up against Lockington Bamawm United at Leitchville.
Another big test for the Shannon Keam-coached Bombers against the ’22 premiers.
Huntly has the bye.
