ROCK — Todd E. Kaminen, age 76, of Rock, Mich., passed away Friday evening, May 26, 2023 at his home. He was born on July 4, 1946 in Marquette, Mich., the son of Edward and Clara (Todd) Kaminen. Todd was raised and attended school in Rock where he was a 1964 graduate of Rock High School. He went on to attend forestry school in L’Anse, Mich. and worked as a pipe fitter welder with the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 111. Todd served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam as a combat medic from 1968 until he was honorably discharged in 1972. Todd married the former Rita Russell on August 4, 1971 at Faith Lutheran Church in Rock. Together, the couple shared 51 years of marriage and raised their children, Ryan and Darcy. In 1994, Todd worked for KI Sawyer Air Force Base in Gwinn and retired in 1996 due to health reasons. Todd was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Rock and the Rock American Legion Post 559. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and going to camp. He also looked forward to his fishing trips to Canada. Todd always had a positive attitude and a smile on his face.
Todd is survived by his wife, Rita Kaminen of Rock; son, Ryan Kaminen of Rock; daughter, Darcy (Mike) Getzloff of Wilson, and their 5 children, Michael, Cherish, Ava, Adrianna, and Colten Getzloff; sister, Jackie Forslund of Rock; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Todd was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Richard “Dick” Forslund.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Gladstone. Military honors will be conducted at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel by the Rock American Legion Post 559. Funeral services celebrating the life of Todd will follow with Rev.
