Matt Campbell – Betr
IPSWICH CUP – BERDIBEK – Race 7 No.4 (Ipswich)
Had three runs now this prep, the last he got home strongly behind the talented Without A Fight over 1800m. Now gets to his pet distance of 2000m where he has a terrific record.
EYE LINER STKS – BLAZE A TRAIL – Race 8 No.12 (Ipswich)
It was an excellent run second-up behind Antino, beaten less than a length. That horse went on to win again last week at Listed level which this race is. Previous winner third-up and stable is flying.
MCKELL CUP – ZOUMON – Race 7 No.12 (Rosehill)
Really ran on well here two weeks ago in fast closing time. Ready for the 2000m at his fourth run in where he was just beaten at his only try in February. Likes a firmer track and does his best racing here.
BEST – ARTZINO – Race 8 No.11 (Flemington)
Was slow out first-up but came home hard from last to catch the eye at Sandown behind Elkington Road. The rise to 2000m will definitely suit him and in his first prep he won second-up.
VALUE – ASGOODASSOBERGETS – Race 4 No.1 (Rosehill)
He will strip fitter for his last start effort and will be at peak fitness now he is third-up. Maybe coming back 200m in trip will be the key. Hoping the winkers going on will do the trick.
Don Harley – TAB.com.au
IPSWICH CUP – BERDIBEK – Race 7 No.4 (Ipswich)
Continues to race well and can break through for a win here off a solid performance behind Without A Fight last time out. Getting a good price to find out as well.
EYE LINER STKS – GRAVINA – Race 8 No.4 (Ipswich)
Godolphin galloper that gets his chance for a win here. Any cut in the ground will only aid his chances and Ben Thompson in the saddle does suit.
MCKELL CUP – ZOUMON – Race 7 No.12 (Rosehill)
Looks to get an easy time of it up front with just the light weight on. He’s got a good record at the trip (4:3-0-0) and with improvement from the first-up run, he can win.
BEST – TUTTA LA VITA – Race 1 No.3 (Rosehill)
Highly promising filly that can get a win on the board here. Unlucky not to beat Congregation last time out which went on to perform well at Group 1 level last week.
VALUE – ADJOURN – Race 4 No.3 (Rosehill)
Talented galloper from the Kris Lees yard that continues to improve with every run and can make the step up to Saturday grade here. Represents good value.
Joshua Bell – Ladbrokes
IPSWICH CUP – BERDIBEK – Race 7 No.4 (Ipswich)
Gets out to a more suitable distance at his fourth run this prep. The nine-year-old was placed behind Without A Fight at Group 3 level last time out and that is good form to follow.
EYE LINER STKS – HOLYFIELD – Race 8 No.1 (Ipswich)
Was no match for them in the Stradbroke Handicap but will appreciate the considerable step back in grade here. He is capable of producing a rating high enough to win a race of this quality.
MCKELL CUP – ZOUMON – Race 7 No.12 (Rosehill)
Progressive type of horse with a fair bit of upside which I can’t say about the majority of this field. Put together two impressive wins in a row last campaign and he was excellent first-up.
BEST – TUTTA LA VITA – Race 1 No.3 (Rosehill)
Exciting filly resuming having won two of three in her short career. Won two trials leading into this first-up assignment by nine lengths in each and this looks a perfect race to kick start her campaign.
VALUE – SNEAKY SHARK – Race 6 No.2 (Rosehill)
Finished second in the Karaka Million as a two-year-old. Recent trial was promising when second behind Russian Conquest and he’s worth a small each-way play at the big price.
Kevin Kemp – Pointsbet
IPSWICH CUP – DESERT ICON – Race 7 No.3 (Ipswich)
Jumps from barrier two and James Orman should be able to put him just off the leader’s heels. Was brave placing over the 2400m last start and stepping back to 2200 now I’m tipping him to go one better.
EYE LINER STKS – LADY OF HONOUR – Race 8 No.8 (Ipswich)
Strong runs in decent races in Melbourne should have her well placed to feature here. Represents a good each-way bet at the current price, close to double figure odds on offer.
MCKELL CUP – ZOUMON – Race 7 No.12 (Rosehill)
Found the line strongly last start after a spell of almost five months. Fitter here second-up and with 53kg on his back he should prove hard to run down. Deserving favourite.
BEST – STEPARTY – Race 2 No.1 (Flemington)
Two starts for two strong wins. Always a bit of unknown in a two-year-old race but he’s a class horse and should prove too good for these. Short odds but he’s a huge chance here.
VALUE – KIND GESTURE – Race 5 No.10 (Flemington)
Ex-UK galloper having his third start here in Australia. Improved last start and if he can continue to progress there’s no reason why he can’t feature in the finish. Good each-way bet.
Chris Gregory – Playup
IPSWICH CUP – BERDIBEK – Race 7 No.4 (Ipswich)
Finished off well last week behind Without A Fight and gets a good weight swing on his main rival Numerian here. Looks like he will appreciate the rise in distance.
EYE LINER STKS – CEPHEUS – Race 8 No.2 (Ipswich)
Looks like a good chance to return to the winner’s stall on Saturday and has been running some competitive races this prep. He will be on speed making his own luck.
MCKELL CUP – ZOUMON – Race 7 No.12 (Rosehill)
A tough on pace horse that will be given a license out in front to the control the race. Weighted well against the field and with not much on his back he will look to run them ragged over the tight Rosehill circuit.
BEST – GREBENI – Race 4 No.5 (Rosehill)
Looks to get things to suit here once again on Saturday. Won with some petrol left in the tank last time and this race looks no harder. Hard to beat.
VALUE – ZAC DE BOSS – Race 4 No.3 (Flemington)
Only has to find his old straight form to be a good winning chance on Saturday. Has taken a few notable scalps earlier in his career and this is well within his reach. Fitter second-up and loves the straight.
David Mackay – TopSport
IPSWICH CUP – DESERT ICON – Race 7 No.3 (Ipswich)
Looked good last start in the Winter Cup when finishing second. Blinkers on for the first time in 30 starts and seemed to improve, this is a test but back in distance think will suit here.
EYE LINER STKS – PROFIT – Race 8 No.9 (Ipswich)
Seems set for this race resuming off a long break with a couple of trials. Yet to miss a place first-up and represents a good price for an each-way bet.
MCKELL CUP – BORIS D’ARGENT – Race 7 No.2 (Rosehill)
Punched on and won the Lord Mayor’s Cup two weeks back and strikes a similar field here. Should be fitter again and not the toughest field to take care of.
BEST – PARTY FOR ONE – Race 5 No.2 (Flemington)
I had this as my best in her last outing a fortnight ago so no reason to jump off. Blake Shinn has been riding her magnificently and seems to have a good connection with her.
VALUE – BETTER GET SET – Race 9 No.2 (Ipswich)
Didn’t really get a good go at it last start at Eagle Farm. Hit the line well, has a good second-up record and expecting a much better performance.
Clint Wallis – Neds
IPSWICH CUP – DESERT ICON – Race 7 No.3 (Ipswich)
Hadn’t been racing at his usual level this preparation, but the blinkers went on for the first time last start in the Winter Cup at Rosehill and he was much improved.
EYE LINER STKS – PALLADAS – Race 8 No.16 (Ipswich)
Performed well in his first two runs this time in before a forgive run last time out where he got trapped three wide in the run before dropping out. Is certainly better than that and there’s no Antino here.
MCKELL CUP – ZOUMON – Race 7 No.12 (Rosehill)
Valiant effort here first-up where he sat second and was only narrowly defeated. Has an excellent record at 2000m and despite drawing wide here there doesn’t look like much speed on paper.
BEST – KIN – Race 9 No.9 (Flemington)
Strong run first-up at Gosford where she was only overrun late. Fair effort second-up behind Iowna Merc which has won again since. Yet to miss the placings at Flemington.
VALUE – RATTLE AND BANG – Race 1 No.3 (Flemington)
Resuming here after placing at Listed level at this most recent run and has trialled well in the lead up. He’s a 1000m specialist and has raced well fresh previously. Positive move taking 3kg off.
Zach Littman – Bet Nation
IPSWICH CUP – DESERT ICON – Race 7 No.3 (Ipswich)
Happy to be with this Chris Waller runner in the Ipswich Cup. James Orman takes the ride and from barrier two. Will be able to sit off the leader’s backs and sweat on some runs in the lane.
EYE LINER STKS – BLAZE A TRAIL – Race 8 No.12 (Ipswich)
This gelding will be primed to strike third-up for an in-form stable. Was only beaten less than a length by Antino and will get the dream run from barrier three. Happy to be on at the each-way odds.
MCKELL CUP – BOLD MAC – Race 7 No.10 (Rosehill)
Finished off well last start and the step up to the 2000m looks like a planned move the stable. Won’t be far off away in the run from barrier one and pending clean air he will be finishing off well.
BEST – JIMMY THE BEAR – Race 7 No.1 (Flemington)
In what is a wide-open affair, Jimmy The Bear looks to go one better to his last start. Third-up, Laura Lafferty on claiming 3kg and facing much easier opposition than his previous races.
VALUE – FIRE AND ICE – Race 6 No.7 (Rosehill)
Couldn’t have been more impressive last start after knocking on the door. He will look to sit on pace and will give a sight thanks to being rock hard fit. Looks to be a weak race on paper.
James Thomas – Palmerbet
IPSWICH CUP – DESERT ICON – Race 7 No.3 (Ipswich)
Found it hard to get overly excited here but landed on Desert Icon. Put in an improved effort last start and won’t have to do much work from the good draw. The drop back in distance won’t be problem.
EYE LINER STKS – LADY OF HONOUR – Race 8 No.8 (Ipswich)
Close up in two starts behind Cardinal Gem down in Melbourne before a slightly disappointing effort in the BRC Sprint last start. I think it will pay to forgive that effort in what looks an easier race here.
MCKELL CUP – ZOUMON – Race 7 No.12 (Rosehill)
Only just missed first-up in a strong hit out over 1800m Rosehill. He found the front early but Tyler Schiller pushed on with Mach Schnell and that proved to be the difference.
BEST – SPACE TRACKER – Race 9 No.4 (Rosehill)
Thought it was a good effort on debut in Australia and he is sure to derive benefit form that run. Second-up out to 1500m looks ideal and he will only carry 56kg after the claim for apprentice Jett Stanley.
VALUE – RINGAROSA – Race 8 No.6 (Rosehill)
Came from near last at Warwick Farm to round them up. Was a similar story first-up at Newcastle and regular ride Jason Collett sticks with her. Looks worth a bet at double figure odds.
Matthew Steed – Bet365
IPSWICH CUP – DESERT ICON – Race 7 No.3 (Ipswich)
Should be cherry ripe after three runs back from a break. Just touched off in the Winter Cup at Rosehill last start which tops him off well for this. The soft draw should ensure he is never far away.
EYE LINER STKS – BLAZE A TRAIL – Race 8 No.12 (Ipswich)
Improved last start to be beaten less than a length by Antino which reads very well for this. Should be able to get an economical run from the gate. Should be somewhere in the finish here.
MCKELL CUP – STEELY – Race 7 No.9 (Rosehill)
Looks to be ticking over well with two narrow placings his last two starts over the Randwick mile. Now getting to 2000m which is a slight concern but expect if he runs it out to be right in the finish of this.
BEST – TOKEN CAPITALIST – Race 10 No.13 (Rosehill)
Racing well this prep and been freshened a bit to cope with the drop back in trip. Think the big drop in weight is significant and like the form around Rediener. He’ll be right in this.
VALUE – ASGOODASSOBERGETS – Race 4 No.1 (Rosehill)
Liked his win first-up before running just behind the placings in a Benchmark 84 at Flemington next run. Back in grade here but if he gets any luck early from the gate think he will be right in the finish.
