Round 10 of the Hostplus Cup had everything with teams recording mammoth victories, close wins and even a heart-pumping draw.
The Tweed Seagulls inflicted more misery on the Ipswich Jets with a 54-14 victory at North Ipswich Reserve. Ioane Seiuli scored four of the Seagulls’ nine tries and has lifted Tweed to fifth on the ladder.
The Wynnum Manly Seagulls held off a fast finishing Papua New Guinea Hunters outfit. The Seagulls had established a 28-0 lead before the Hunters scored five tries in the last 28 minutes. The difference between the two sides were conversions as Josh Rogers slotted four from five for the Seagulls whilst Jamie Makovo missed three chances.
The Burleigh Bears opened the scoring in the first minute in their clash against Western Clydesdales and had a comfortable 40-24 win whilst the Redcliffe Dolphins thrashed the Mackay Cutters 52-10 at Suncorp Stadium.
The South Logan Magpies recorded a 28-12 over the Southern Pride to stay in touch with ladder leaders Burleigh.
The game of the round was the Central Queensland Capras taking on the Sunshine Coast Falcons. Both sides had two players sin binned throughout the course of the match and it was the Falcons who were the beneficiary in the first half with a 16-16 lead. A double to Capras winger Edrick Lee in the second half gave the hosts the lead with 10 minutes remaining. A late try to Jayden Nikorima salvaged the draw for the Falcons.
The remaining match in the Hostplus Cup is Norths Devils hosting the Townsville Blackhawks at Bishop Park in Brisbane.
