If you’ve made the trek to Bowral to browse through the original (and iconic) Dirty Janes, it’s more than likely that you stopped in at Salters Café for a coffee and bite to eat.
Now, local coffee connoisseurs, culinary enthusiasts, and vintage lovers alike will need to hold onto their wallets— this “café that tastes like a restaurant” is opening in Dirty Janes Canberra on Friday 9 June and our weekends have never sounded so good.
After all, nothing goes together better than vintage shopping and a hot cup of coffee, especially in winter.
Opening for breakfast, lunch and some quick afternoon bites, from delicious coffee, and exquisite cakes to savoury breakfast and lunch options (including tantalising dishes prepared with seasonal ingredients such as the roast pumpkin salad with rocket, pine nuts, dried cranberries, roasted onion and honey yogurt dressing and vegetarian lasagna), the café aims to create a culinary haven where patrons can indulge their senses.
And because Dirty Janes knows how to do everything with style (they do house some of Canberra’s best vintage clothing for a reason) to celebrate this beautiful partnership of amazing food and curated items of furniture, homewares, art, clothing, jewellery and garden items, Salters Café is hosting a very grand opening event to officially kick off with a bang.
From 12 pm until 5 pm on Saturday 1 July, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy live music while you delight in a delectable selection of dishes carefully prepared by the talented chefs at Salters. And while we might have to wait a month, with hints that there have been collaborations with a local brewery and winery—as well as a special live performance by Ollie McGill and his new band—it sounds like a party you won’t want to miss.
In other exciting news, if you’re looking for something new to do to celebrate the weekend, in the future the new Salters Café might just be bringing the Bowral tradition of TGIFridays to life, with live music, cocktails and local drinks, tacos, chicken wings available from 3 pm until 5 pm every Friday (at least we hope so). With more details to be announced, keep an eye on @salters_canberra for all the details.
Food, coffee AND browsing through vintage goodies? Our love for the eclectic has just gotten even more enthusiastic.
