This Heartbreaking Detail From Queen Charlotte Beautifully Connects ‘Bridgerton’ Season 2 With an Easter Egg

Fans had not one but many reasons to love Netflix’s Bridgerton. While fans have to wait for season 3 to find answers to their questions, Netflix was kind enough to release a spinoff of the show, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. The show was adored for its costume, dialogues, and cast, but most importantly, it gave a background on the Queen of England of the period romance drama. 

Ever since the release of the show, there are many theories circulating the show. Fans are finding parallels between the original show and this new spinoff and are successful in connecting the dots. In a recent attempt, one popular influencer, who breaks down pop culture and beauty trends, has one and fans are all ears about it. 

Connecting dots: A tale of emeralds and diamonds of Queen Charlotte

Cat Quinn, a popular Instagram influencer, shared an Easter egg from season 2 of Bridgerton. Do you remember that one scene where Eloise meets the Queen? She describes to the Queen that she finds the ball ‘diamond-y’ and how she prefers emeralds, to which the Queen responded, “that her favorite necklace was made of emeralds.” If you have watched the spinoff with great attention, as Quinn did, you would have noticed that the Queen wore the emerald necklace twice in the show, when she was “hiding from the heavens” with King George.

Meanwhile, in the entire show, she only wore diamond pieces. This shows that the Queen’s favorite necklace was the one she wore in one of the most romantic moments with King George. Thus, it proves as a testament to the Queen’s love for her King: her favorite piece is a memory where George recognizes her and sees her as Charlotte. 

Queen Charlotte looks at the life of the Queen and King George III’s illness. The show beautifully captures the love the couple had for each other. Apart from this, fans have noticed many other Easter eggs in the show from the previous two seasons of Bridgerton. 

Of ‘Georgian outfits’ and ‘love for farming’

The show has many Easter eggs, each with its own significance. Like the one where in the current time, it is only the Queen who wears Georgian-era outfits. This is a way to show her being “trapped in time,” as described by her secretary Brimsely. In one of the scenes, he goes on to explain that the only reason that her daughters stayed for their mother was that they know she has not moved on with time for the King. In the ball scene, the outfit King George wore saw intricate floral embroidery that symbolizes his love for farming. 

A while back, the ball dance of Queen Charlotte and King George was also matched to that of Anthony and Kate. It seems that fans are not stopping their hunt for parallels until a new season of the show comes out to answer their questions.
