I’ve been a professional travel writer for more than 30 years, and while I don’t have children, I have seen and learned about Kids’ Clubs. And at so many hotels, they sit your child in front of a TV monitor, play a movie and call it a day.
But The Leading Hotels of the World offers some great children’s clubs around the globe, and they are complimentary for guests.
As family vacations enter the planning stages for the Spring and Summer, The Leading Hotels of the World has curated a list of their top Children’s Programs for the junior curious traveler.
These members of The Leading Hotels of the World cast aside ho-hum notions of a “Kids Club” and invite their smallest guests to embark on experiences that are as exciting as they are enriching. Take a look. In what I believe is one of the most adorable undertakings, small fry can create their own film in the French Riviera city known for the Cannes Film Festival. Make sure to bring your “Lilliputian” Louis Malles! The south of France may be renowned for its star-studded glamour, but at Hotel Barriere Le Majestic Cannes, the hotel’s smallest guests are the true VIPs. Rolling out the red carpet for kids of all ages, the Childrens club invites little ones to dream big with an array of engaging programs in the arts. At Studio by Petite VIP, kids can get behind the camera to direct their own feature film or even compose a score for their favorite bedtime story. Lights! Camera! Action!
Here’s more:
· Marbella Club Hotel (Marbella, Spain): Perhaps your child will create the next Chanel No. 5! At the resort’s Children’s club, curious kids can make memories as they transform the aromatic herbs of the hotel garden into a home fragrance or collaborate with a leading Wellness Chef to weave the flavors of Spain into a recipe that will be passed down for generations.
· Villa del Parco & Spa, Forte Village (Sardinia, Italy): With a playhouse village, life-size Barbie dream house, go-kart track, Acquapark, Leisureland and top renowned sports academies, this destination is the ultimate summer playground for kids of all ages. And make sure the girls bring their Barbie dolls!
· The Montgomerie Golf Club by Maxx Royal (Belek, Turkey): Whether it’s rock climbing at the Adventure Park, diving in at the Aquapark, or even traveling back in time at Dinoland, this is one destination where guests of all ages will have many choices.
· Falkensteiner Hotel Montafon (Tschagguns, Austria): Children have the opportunity to produce sustainable products with the wool of the Montafoner Steinschaf, complete a survival training course and run tests in the science labs for an educational quest.
· Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa (Interlaken, Switzerland): Whether it’s cracking the case in a mysterious detective game, or creating the perfect flower arrangement, The Bienehuus provides the variety of escapades that little ones crave.
· Acqualina Resort & Residences on the Beach (Sunny Isles, Florida): At the resort’s newly refreshed and award-winning AcquaMarine Kids Club, children can spend fun-filled days discovering Miami’s vibrant marine life or get outside on the Great Lawn to learn how to perfect a world cup-worthy corner kick.
· The Kahala Hotel & Resort (Honolulu, Hawaii): Every element of the resort’s thoughtfully curated kids programming is designed to inspire a new generation to forge a connection with the island’s culture. It goes way beyond just learning the hula!
· Carlisle Bay (St, Mary’s, Antigua): From tots to teens, the resort’s Cool Kids and Crew Blue programs are aimed at cultivating curiosity for the outdoors with kayaking adventures and journeys to study sea turtles in their natural habitat.
· Emerald Zanzibar Resort & Spa (Zanzibar, Tanzania): With a weekly programming schedule designed to acquaint kids with local culture – from learning Vul’ Indela dance to exploring the marine life – the Emerald Zanzibar offers kids an experience unlike any other.
· Terre Blanche Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort (Tourrettes, France): In collaboration with their Biodiversity Brigade, Terre Blanche’s Children’s Kingdom allows their little guests to make nesting boxes which are then installed in the resort’s trees to maintain and encourage biodiversity on property, while also teaching kids about the importance of preserving wildlife. That sounds fantastic and completely eco-friendly.
It’s simply too bad that I’m too old to sign up!
