This year NAFA has attracted a big fish, hooking comedian Wil Anderson. See who else is performing at the festival, kicking off on Friday.
NAFA begins this Friday and will run for two-and-a-half weeks on The Strand, Townsville.
Mayor Jenny Hill said the festival brings show-stopping “arts action” to town.
“Events like NAFA make it possible to bring the best in world-class entertainment and arts to Townsville,” Cr Hill said.
“NAFA is a huge boon to Townsville businesses.”
Also performing are musician Ross Wilson (Daddy Cool, Mondo Rock), family entertainment Circus Wonderland and fan-favourites Dancenorth, among others.
The Townsville and Magnetic Island-based Wulgurukaba Walkabouts dance group will be debuting their new work (Bambarra-ma Dariburu) at the festival.
Townsville City Council community and cultural development committee chairwoman Ann-Maree Greaney said while Strand Park will be the festival’s epicentre, acts will pop up around the city.
“Check your copy of the program to see what’s on in your neck of the woods,” Cr Greaney said.
There is also some Auslan-interpreted shows this year to increase accessibility.
