We may all be delighted that the weather is finally warming up, but it can be difficult to enjoy a good night’s sleep in summer. Breathable, lightweight sheets can make a big difference, so we’re pleased to see decent discounts on two of the Good Housekeeping Insitute’s favourite cooling bedding: Dusk’s Kensington Cotton Duvet Cover and Cuddledown’s 100% Linen Bedding Set, which are currently 43% and 25% off respectively.
That means you can pick up Dusk’s duvet cover for £100 down from £176 for a double size, with an extra 10% discount if you use the code SAVE10 at checkout. Meanwhile, Cuddledown’s bedding is down to £138 from £184 for a double set that includes a duvet cover and two pillowcases.
Our GHI team gave Dusk’s duvet cover 89/100, naming it the best cotton bedding on test (the pillowcases and sheets are sold separately and are also on sale).
It was declared hugely effective at cooling by our panellists, making it a top choice for those who tend to overheat at night. They found the soft Egyptian cotton comfortable against their skin, saying it helped them to enjoy “fantastic sleep”. It washed well on test and fitted neatly onto duvets, although the buttons were slightly fiddly.
If you prefer linen to cotton, look to Cuddledown’s sheets, which earned a winning 93/100 from our testers. The linen’s soft, smooth and breathable texture helped everybody sleep easy in hot weather, with all agreeing that it effectively regulated their body temperature.
Everything fitted well, making for a quick bedding change, and hidden buttons closed the duvet cover neatly. It held its shape well during the wash test, despite creasing a lot as linen tends to do. Some panellists struggled to iron its wrinkles out, but the relaxed, crumpled look is stylish so this shouldn’t be a dealbreaker.
If there was ever a time to invest in cooling bedding, it’s now, before those sweaty nights kick in and these two impressive sales finish. Pick up Dusk’s duvet cover here and Cuddledown’s linen sheets here.
