The cyclic nature of jewelry lends itself to antique and vintage pieces witnessing a revival at the same time that similar trends in modern fine jewelry take off. Contemporary cross-over styles are often influenced by the period styles returning to the forefront. Designers pick up on a collective consciousness further informed by the growing number of photos, reels and stories posted across social media and the return of certain pieces from the past as fresh and chic rather than staid and old-fashioned.
Both the original antique and vintage pieces and the modern reimaging of styles from different eras, as seen at the recent Couture Show in Las Vegas, are being coveted by a new generation of collectors and enthusiasts, thus spurring a renaissance of the art and soul of jewelry’s wonderful and often magical nature.
