What started out as a conversation between Ray Kahl, Graeme Brady and a couple others lead to the start of what is now known as the Tropical of Capricorn Veteran Golfers Carnival which now enters its 14th year.
Once again, the Central Queensland District Veteran Golfers Association is pleased to announce that the Frenchville Sports Club will again be the Major sponsor of the 2023 Tropic of Capricorn Golf Carnival to be held over 10 days from the 21 – 29 Aug.
The Frenchville Sports Club has been the major sponsor of this event every one of those 14 years.
The carnival brings Veteran golfers from far and wide. In past years prior to COVID there were over 200 participants from 61 different Clubs ranging from Geelong. Vic to Cooktown in the NQ.
Out of town players include many caravanners who stay at various parks in Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast.
During the carnival participants play six rounds of golf spread over the Rockhampton, North Rockhampton, Yeppoon and Emu Park courses.
In addition to the golf platers and non-players get together for a Carnival dinner at the Frenchville Sports Club to socialize and share travel stories and past glories on the golf course.
Any member of a golf club over the age of 55 for men or 50 for females is invited to participate. Nomination details may be found on the CQDVGA website www.cqvets.com
