A call to emergency services was made just before 8am Thursday and the boy was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital under priority one conditions.
Emergency doctors at the hospital could not save his life.
WorkSafe and forensic officers are investigating.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
The incident comes amid a grim spate of fatal workplace incidents, most recently that of a contractor at Mineral Resources’ Onslow Iron project on Monday.
The company’s managing director Chris Ellison said the firm was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the tragedy.
Less than two weeks earlier, contractor Michael Jurman was killed at Woodside’s North Rankin Complex, about 135km northwest of Karratha.
Jurman’s death came on the same day a 62-year-old crane worker died at a work site in Applecross, in Perth’s southern suburbs.
And in another workplace incident, 23-year-old man has been charged with murder after he was accused of running over and killing police constable Anthony Woods during an arrest.
