The Rockliff Liberal Government is proud to recognise the valuable contribution made by our service men and women and the wider veterans community through the Teddy Sheean VC Memorial Grants Program.
Congratulations to the 12 organisations from across Tasmania who will receive a share of the $50,000 funding from Round 2 of the 2022-23 Grants Program.
Funding was available to organisations for minor capital works, tools and/or equipment purchases, a welfare initiative as well as war memorial construction, repair and maintenance.
Some of the projects to receive funding include:
- Spring Bay RSL Sub Branch Inc – $5000 for To complete the new Spring Bay War Memorial site;
- Military Brotherhood MMC – Tasmania North Sub Branch Inc – $3967 for Information Technology – Computer Replacement and Upgrade Project;
- Scottsdale RSL Ex Servicemens Memorial and Community Club Inc – $4000 for Memorial Mural on front of Building, and
- Bravo Zulu Sailing Association Incorporated – $4690 for Wet Weather Equipment
The Teddy Sheean VC Memorial Grants Program was established by the Tasmanian Government as a tribute to the bravery and sacrifice made by Tasmanian sailor Ordinary Seaman Edward `Teddy’ Sheean VC, who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect his shipmates and his country when the HMAS Armidale was attacked off the coast of East Timor in 1942.
The Tasmanian Government recognises the valuable contribution of Tasmania’s service men and women and is committed to supporting our serving and
ex-service community in Tasmania.
