Tallygaroopna has previously been affected by significant flooding, most recently in 2012.
The scoping study will focus on the township, including external influences which impact on flooding conditions within the town.
The results will be used to provide an improved understanding of flooding conditions, influence and impacts in Tallygaroopna, develop improved planning controls to better manage future development in the town, and provide information for the assessment of possible improvement measures to reduce future flood impacts.
The council has appointed consultants Confluence Group to undertake the study.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali said feedback was needed from residents to help draw on local knowledge accumulated from observing past floods.
“Tallygaroopna has experienced significant flooding six times between 1919 and 2012,” Cr Sali said.
“The residents may have lived through these floods and have first-hand knowledge of the impact and what is needed to be improved.”
The council will post a copy of the survey to all Tallygaroopna township residents. Feedback can be provided online through the Shaping Greater Shepp website at or by sending back the survey in the reply-paid envelope or by picking up a survey from the council’s Welsford St, Shepparton office or the Tallygaroopna Post Office.
Council and the consultants will host a drop-in session at the Soldiers Memorial Hall in Tallygaroopna on Wednesday, June 14 from 4pm to 7pm.
“This will give residents an opportunity to bring along information such as old photos and tell us what happened during certain flood events,” Cr Sali said.
Feedback is open until Friday, June 23.
