The Friends of the Gallery have developed Beyond Bricks and Mortar to offer a diverse range of arts experiences throughout Lismore and the Northern Rivers.
One of the initiatives they run are bus trips to other galleries in the broader North Coast region, artist and panel discussions and artist studio visits.
The exciting news is that the third bus trip is coming up on Saturday 15 July 2023. This bus trip will tour to three galleries in the broader region including NRC Community Gallery at Ballina, Lone Goat in Byron Bay and Byron School of Art in Mullumbimby.
Susan Conroy, Public Officer of the Friends of Lismore Regional Gallery says, “this program is enabling people to share the experience of visiting local art galleries in the region and is vital in allowing cross-fertilisation of creative practice and thinking.”
There will be a guided tour at NRC Community Gallery and Lone Goat galleries and a visit to the gallery and studio of artist Michael Cusack at Byron School of Art.
At Lone Goat Gallery, Anthony J. Walker a Yiman, Ghungalu, Gurreng Gurreng artist is exhibiting Cavanbah – his solo exhibition. This exhibition explores his profound connection to the environment and is centred around the theme of caring for country. Walker’s vibrant paintings invite viewers to consider their own relationship with the land, sea, and waterways.
Four exhibitions will be on for our visit, including: the Southern Cross University graduate award exhibition and the annual Grace Cruice Memorial Exhibition presented by the Ballina Arts and Crafts group.
The bus will depart at 9am sharp from the John Crowther Car Park on Dawson St, Lismore. The cost for Friends members is $20+ booking fee and $25 + booking fee for non-members. Seats are limited so book your seats now, celebrate the diversity of arts experiences across our region and support the Friends and the Lismore Regional Gallery.
