WHAT WE’RE LOOKING AT
- Gold Coast have won seven of their last eight matches as a home favourite.
- Hawthorn haven’t won on the Gold Coast since 2014.
- Hawthorn have kicked over 88 points the last four games.
THE MATCH-UP
Gold Coast ran into a Blues side who played out of their skin last weekend, but the Suns have been a solid team at home this season and can bounce back here.
With contested ball winning beasts Matt Rowell and Noah Anderson, the slippery and humid Gold Coast conditions suit them perfectly and helped defeat the Bulldogs and Crows in the last two games in Darwin.
The Hawks are clearly in a rebuilding stage but are building form with an exciting forward line, beating the Saints and kicking over 88 points in each of the past four games.
The Suns attacking midfielders and tall forward line have helped them go over the total points line in nine of their 13 games this year (third most in the league) and the form of Mitch Lewis for the Hawks will help the Hawks kick another big score.

SUNS LEADERS
Suns fans were extremely worried when their All-Australian captain Touk Miller copped a season ending injury, but since then Matt Rowell has taken his game to another level.
Averaging 22 disposals and in the league’s top three for contested disposals per game (15), he stays on the ball most game for the Suns and his strength can shake off any opponent.
The midfield bull has even improved as an attacker for Gold Coast, being able to burst out of the centre and kick long for goal, he has 20+ disposals and a goal in three of the last five matches.
With Rowell and Anderson in amazing form in midfield, Suns coach Stewy Dew has sent veteran David Swallow to the forward line and it has worked well.
Swallow has eight goals so far this year, with multiple games of two or more and his core strength and ability to take marks even for a small forward is extremely underrated.

HIGH FLYING HAWKS
Across the past few seasons, it seems the missing piece for this Hawthorn side was a fit Mitch Lewis; when he’s playing the Hawks look much better in attack and he frees up space for others around him.
The young star is one of the most in-form forwards of the competition kicking 16 goals in the last four matches alone which includes 3+ goals against the Saints, Lions and Power, all of who in the top five and have much stronger defences than the Suns.
The rise of Josh Weddle has been rapid in the last month; with no James Sicily in the side, he is there to take big intercept makes and plenty of kicks out of defence.
The Hawks defender has improved immensely and is averaging 23 disposals across the past four games and is trusted by his teammates when coming out of defence.

THE PICK
The Hawks haven’t won on the Gold Coast since 2014 and although they have become a lot more competitive, they are 1-6 away from home this year.
The Suns two way running midfield and tall forward line will dominate in this one, but as both teams can score big it will still stay reasonably close.
SHINING ON THE GOLD COAST SAME GAME MULTI
- David Swallow – anytime goalscorer
Swallow is a strong mark for his size and has kicked eight goals this year, moving to a forward role now.
King has kicked 2+ goals in nine of the last 10 games and the Suns look for him each time they head forward.
- Josh Weddle – 20+ disposals
Weddle has averaged 23 disposals across the past month and will find more of the ball with Sicily out.
The Suns don’t have the depth to make this a blowout but have beaten two top eight sides in their last two home games.
FOUR-LEG SHINING ON THE GOLD COAST SGM: $11.37 (via Ladbrokes)
