The first round of March Madness was filled with several exciting upsets and a pair of underdogs still dancing with 11-seed Pittsburgh and 16-seed Fairleigh Dickinson playing Sunday.

Sunday’s NCAA Tournament upset the choices

PITTSBURGH ML (+180) vs. Xavier – at 12.10

The 11th-seeded Panthers, coming off a First Four win over Mississippi State, steamrolled No. 6 seed Iowa State on Friday. Pitt faces a Xavier defense that ranks just 285th in the nation in opponent points per game (74.1), presenting a huge opportunity for the Panthers to steal a trip to the Sweet 16.

The No. 3-seeded Muskateers were on upset alert for much of their 1st-round win over Kennesaw State on Friday. Its prominent offense was seemingly at a standstill for the majority of the game and was 2 of 12 behind the line. Remove F Jerome Hunter8-for-11 shooting performance, the Muskies shot just 39% from the field.

If the Panthers are able to trouble Xavier on defense and force sloppy offensive plays, they have a very good chance to take down the 3 seed.

TCU +4.5 (-110) vs. Gonzaga – 9:40 p.m

Gonzaga is just 3-11-1 in their last 15 neutral site games and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 NCAA Tournament games, most recently failing to cover Friday against Grand Canyon. While they have a phenomenal offense, the Bulldogs rank 261st in the NCAA in opponent points per game.

TCU is used to playing tough defenses, ranking No. 6 in opponent defensive efficiency, according to Kenpom’s rankings. Against a Zags defense that has been its weak point, if the Horned Frogs are able to exploit that and slow down the Zags offense, it could put them in upset mode.
