Looking for concerts in Upstate New York? It’s summer, so it’s time to hop in your car and go see your favorite artists as their tours take them to cities like Buffalo, Syracuse, Albany and Rochester.
Our 2023 summer concert guide features can’t-miss shows, ranging from rock and hip-hop to pop and country. Highlights include hit rappers 50 Cent, Flo Rida and Post Malone; pop-punk favorites like Fall Out Boy and The Offspring; and longtime music stars like Foreigner, Kenny Chesney, Diana Ross, Rod Stewart, and Duran Duran.
There’s plenty of festivals, too, including the New York State Fair, Borderland, Syracuse Jazz Fest, and Catbird Festival (an all-new event on the original Woodstock site). Two venues are also celebrating the 50th anniversary of Summer Jam, the 1973 concert that drew more than 600,000 people — bigger than Woodstock’s 1969 crowd — to see the Grateful Dead, the Allman Brothers Band and The Band in Watkins Glen.
Most notably, the concert calendar seems especially big this year after the Covid pandemic wiped out live events in 2020 and shows slowly started coming back over the past two years. Many artists are on tour for the first time in a long time, such as All-American Rejects, Shania Twain and Guns N’ Roses.
