A MODERN and light-filled Bargara home is on track to set a sales benchmark for the region as the thriving Bundaberg coastal community cements its position as a lifestyle getaway.
The property at 107 Fairway Drive is advertised for offers above $1.7m, and if it achieves that list price, it will set a record for a non-oceanfront home in the seaside town, 374km north of Brisbane.

Owners Minty and Rob Blair purchased the property in 2016 after renting in the region for three to four years prior.
“We loved that it was unique and different for this area,” Ms Blair explained.
“It has stunning views over Money’s Creek, bushland and the ocean beyond, and is just a 10-minute walk to the beach.”
The home was built in 2012 in a contemporary design that encompasses five bedrooms, three bathrooms, and multiple living and outdoor entertaining areas.
Set on 1817sq m, it includes a long driveway, manicured lawns, a resort style pool, and accommodation for up to four cars.
For the Blairs, the property was their first true family home, with the couple’s two young children raised there.
“It’s a home filled with natural light,” Ms Blair said. “It feels like an oasis that you can retreat to.”
Noting the property was ideal for a range of people, Ms Blair said the home had a grand yet intimate feel that elicited an instant sense of calm.
“It’s very private and has these stunning views where you can watch the sunrise each morning and catch the sunsets each afternoon on the other side.”
And already the property is attracting strong interest from potential buyers as the Bargara region continues to see an influx of new residents from Queensland’s southeast corner and beyond.
According to the latest market trends data from PropTrack, Bargara’s median house price increased 13.9 per cent over the 12 months to April 2023, with 177 houses sold.
Volume-wise, this exceeded the number of houses sold in Yeppoon on the Capricorn Coast (144) and brought Bargara just shy of Noosa’s volume of 207 houses sold.
Sales agent Mark Gelsomino of McGrath Bargara said the list price for 107 Fairway Dr was indicative of the strong market conditions the town continued to enjoy.
“Over the last 18 months the market here has been incredibly solid, and we’ve not seen a reduction in price,” he said.
“That’s largely driven by a migration of people from down south, including buyers from the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Port Macquarie, and Byron Bay.”
Predicting the interest from the southeast corner and interstate would likely to continue, Mr Gelsomino heralded it a coming of age for a region with something for everyone.
“It’s a peaceful place with a laid-back village lifestyle that people love,” he explained.
“You have the ocean, golf courses, great schools, new hotels and now increased flight access due to the arrival of Bonza.
“We’re still seeing a lot of people working from home since Covid and, as a result, we’re getting good inquiry on any well-priced property.”
A lifelong local who has been a real estate sales agent in the Wide Bay area for 13 years, Mr Gelsomino said the past 18 months had seen the most sustained increase in growth that he had witnessed during his career.
“And I don’t see it dropping off anytime soon because of the lifestyle,” he added.
For the Blairs that lifestyle is something they will miss, with Ms Blair noting Bargara offered a beautiful location and incredible climate.
But now the couple are seeking to return to New Zealand to be closer to family.
“One thing I will really miss is the winters here and that view,” Ms Blair said.
“You enjoy these incredible bluebird days where everything is so still and so calm.”
