Milman State School might be small in numbers but they have stepped up big to learn the game of hockey.
The school, which has 10 total students, took part in a program with Park Avenue Hockey Club to learn the ropes of the sport.
The students had three sessions at school and three sessions in town at Kalka Shades where the students were able to experience playing on a proper hockey field.
The great opportunity for the school, which is located 35km north of Rockhampton, provided kids with an awesome chance to develop their skills and learn a brand new sport.
All of the kids that took on the sport has something positive to say and were clearly stoked with the teachings of Michelle Watts and Megan Lloyd.
Here’s what the students had to say:
Nyssa (yr 3)- I enjoyed hitting the ball at hockey
Joshua- (yr 3) I enjoyed learning about hockey and how to play it.
Kianna –(yr 4) I enjoyed playing the real game at the end of our sessions.
Flinn –(yr 6) I loved learning to play the game correctly.
Benn –(prep) I loved that we got bags at the end.
Charlee –(yr 5) I loved that I could do lots of running.
Finn-(yr 4) I liked it when we practiced playing hockey by playing Dog and Bone.
Harry –(yr 2) I liked it when I battled the other team.
Abbie – (yr 4) I liked hockey when we played Dog and the Bone and I liked. learning the technique of dribbling.
