The five-year anniversary of The Youngsters Auction was a hit. The sport horse auction, organized by the Waaij Stud in Eemnes – the Netherlands, sold 19 show jumpers to national and international buyers. The most coveted lot, a seven-year-old Grandorado TN gelding, was sold for 225.000 euros. The average price was calculated at 77.500 euros.
The highest selling show jumper, Lerado (cat.18, by Grandorado TN x Sydney), will continue his jumping career under the guidance of Jeroen Dubbeldam. The Olympian purchased the gelding on behalf of one of his Japanese students. “During the trials Jeroen noticed that there was a good click between his student and Lerado. It is a fine horse for this rider, so it is nice that it works out this way and the horse will have a new home at Stal De Sjiem”, Peter van der Waaij says.
Top sellers
The second most expensive lot will go to the stables of Axel Verlooy. The Belgian horseman paid 200.000 euros for five-year-old Nemerald (cat. 4, v. Emerald x Nimmerdor) and has thereby possibly secured a successor that can match the sport successes of his top breeding stallion Emerald. The six-year-old gelding Miami (cat. 11, by Glenfiddich VDL x Emilion) sold for 105.000 euro to owners originating from the country he lends his name from: the USA.
Trio to Mexico
Cat. no. 19, Lelmerette (by Verdi x Chellano Z), was the fourth lot that changed hands for over 100K. The mare came under the hammer for 105.000 and remains in the Netherlands in training with a young British rider. More than half of the auctioned horses will go abroad with no less than three horses that will henceforth fly the Mexican flag. Other new owners originate from Canada, Egypt, Denmark and Ireland.
The organization looks back on a successful auction, part of the proceeds of which will be made available to charity. The auction opened with the sale of a boat trip, which was auctioned for the benefit of Pax Kinderhulp in Eemnes. 6.750 euros was raised and will be used to support refugee children.
