What happens when you mix siblings, songs, stories, and a road trip across state borders? The SToReR Tour, and they’re headed our way, Ipswich.
From 2 June, award-winning singer-songwriters Sara and Greg Storer are taking their chart-topping album, SToReR for a run of dates to Ipswich, Warwick, Kia Ora (New Zealand), Brisbane, and two already sold out shows in Bundaberg.
The tour began earlier this year in Victoria and New South Wales, but Greg and Sara cannot wait to get back in front of Queensland audiences and share their new music.
Having collaborated on songs since Sara’s second album, Beautiful Circle in 2004 when Greg co-wrote Chiller’s Bend, the pair have won Golden Guitars and an ARIA between them, as well as releasing their joint debut album, SToReR, in January this year.
Sara said she’s been working with Greg for many years but thought it was about time the two record an album of their own together.
“We’ve been talking about it for a long time and thought there was no better time than the present – we didn’t want to get down the track later on and regret not recording an album together,” she said.
“We’ve recorded a 12 track album and are now enjoying getting out where possible and sharing some of these new songs with people across the country.”
Sara said the duo are extremely close, so being able to work alongside Greg has been a wonderful and fun experience.
‘We have both been playing music from a young age and love singing and songwriting. We’re also both very passionate about regional Australia and our country people, especially Greg who works as a farmer,” she said.
“I’ve found it actually easier working with a family member because you can just be yourself – you don’t have to be on show or worry about them getting upset if you don’t like something they’ve done, so it’s been a fairly easy process.
“However, it is a lot of work so I’m glad we were able to tick that box and say we’ve done it. We can always sing these songs for years to come and if we get to do another album down the track, great, but if not, at least we have this adventure to look back on.”
Their upcoming show at the Racehorse Hotel marks the second time Sara has performed here in Ipswich.
“The joy of it all is performing live and sharing your new songs with the audience. It’s so wonderful to be able to write songs and see how much people enjoy your music – I’m incredibly lucky to have this experience and be able to pursue this as my career.”
Audiences can expect plenty of stories from the land and life in general, and a beautiful family feel to every show on this tour as the siblings tell tales of their lives growing up, their children, careers, and everything in between.
