Two former Green Bay Packers stars have recently made public their reasons to move on from the team–the front office. Davante Adams gave personal reasons for leaving the Packers last offseason. He appears to have changed that narrative in the same offseason his friend, Aaron Rodgers, was traded to the New York Jets.
Aaron Rodgers had issues with the Green Bay Packers’ front office
Rodgers blamed poor communication with the Packers’ front office as one of the reasons he wanted to be traded from Green Bay. He made sure to blast the front office’s treatment of veteran players when Rodgers announced his intention to play for the Jets during his appearance on the Pat McAfee Show. Rodgers hinted that the front office didn’t give players “dignity” as they aged.
“Listen to their language, and look at the track record,” Rodgers said. “What happened with Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Julius Peppers, Clay Matthews, on and on? There’s just a way of doing things. If you don’t want to bring people back, that’s fine; it’s a business. But there’s a way to do things to let the man keep his dignity. Let’s put our actions where our words are at. That’s important to me, and now it’s me.”
That’s not the first time Rodgers has warned Packers fans about how the front office does business. Rodgers gave a list of players he found the Packers disrespected over his time in Green Bay.
Here are the players Aaron Rodgers mentioned as veterans who were mistreated or disrespected on their way out of Green Bay:
Charles Woodson
Jordy Nelson
Julius Peppers
Clay Matthews
Randall Cobb
James Jones
John Kuhn
Brett Goode
T.J. Lang
Bryan Bulaga
Casey Hayward
Micah Hyde

Davante Adams felt disrespected by the Packers’ offer
Adams kept things professional when he was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders last season. Adams pretty much forced the Packers to trade him last offseason when he told the front office would not play for them under the franchise tag. Adams said he wanted to be traded to the West Coast to be closer to his family. He said airplane travel to and from Green Bay was too time-consuming. Now, there appears to be more to the story than just flight schedules.
Adams was recently a guest on the I Am Athlete podcast. He said the offer he got from the front office was less than the $20 million he received from the Packers was the reason he was ultimately traded to the Raiders. Host Brandon Marshall said he was confused by the offer Adams said the Packers gave him. Adams said he was confused as well:
“I feel the same way. That’s why I was confused and I showed up on my team,” Adams said to Marshall. “I was the leader that I was supposed to be and showed up and put it all on the line. Wasn’t like I was playing ball like I didn’t have secuirty either. Like I was out there flying across the middle, doing my thing like I always do, and then unfortunately that didn’t work out.”
🧀 @tae15adams tells @IAMATHLETEpod he’s got nothing but love for the packers— still talks to Brian, Matt and Mark— but the offer, “south of 20” he got from them before his last year in GB was a primary reason for not being here anymore. pic.twitter.com/cxHmSnPasy

Adams said he received an excellent offer from the Raiders that was north of $28 million. Adams showed he deserved every penny of it, as the wide receiver earned an All-Pro season with the Raiders in 2022. His success is another blight the front office will have to live with.
