Evelyn Froehlich, 92, died peacefully on June 16, surrounded by family. She was a lifelong Staten Islander and St. John Villa alumna. She worked as a data input at Atlantic Mutual on Wall Street. After raising her children, Evelyn returned to work as an office aide spending most of her time at the Todt-Hill branch of the New York Public Library.
Robert “Bob” Fraser, PhD, MPA, died unexpectedly on Friday, May 12. Dr. Fraser was a valued faculty member of the University of Washington School of Medicine Departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Rehabilitation Medicine since 1977. He was born and raised in Staten Island and would travel back to his beloved Staten Island to attend events and gatherings at St. Peter’s High School.
Patricia Aida Basile, 81, died Friday, June 16. She was born on Staten Island and was a mother of two boys.
Josephine Pontone, 87, died Thursday, June 15, 2023. She raised her three children on Staten Island and was very involved in their schools and activities while also helping her husband build their successful family business. She loved nothing more than being with her family and helping to raise her 7 granddaughters, who kept her very busy.
RECENT OBITUARIES:
Don F. Adler, 88, died Monday, June 12, unexpectedly. He attended Brooklyn College, receiving his associate’s degree. After college, he served in the Army. He was a recruiter for his company, XL, co-owner of Island Skateboard Track, and had his Real Estate License in NY.
Sam Florio, 94, died Tuesday, June 13. After his education he enlisted in the US Navy where he served as a Fireman Second until his honorable discharge in 1947. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 14B working for Emblem Construction on Staten Island and was also a self-employed farmer operating his farm in Esperance where he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
